Margaret Ferraro, our head bookkeeper for the last 6 years, retired on June 25. Margaret will be busy traveling, shopping, and enjoying more time with her husband Sal. We thank Margaret for her dedication to Higgins & McLaughlin, and wish her much luck in her retirement!

David Higgins CPA, Senior Partner David graduated from Stetson University in 1963 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, and joined the CPA firm of Tornwall, Lang & Lee in St Petersburg for two years, before spending three years in the United States Army.  He worked for Harris, Kerr, and Forester, CPAs in Atlanta, then moved to Fort Myers in 1970 where he worked for the CPA firm of Taylor, Edenfield before starting his own firm in 1976.  David specializes in tax, estate, and retirement planning, and heads our individual tax return division.  For eight years, he has held licenses to sell life insurance and securities and is currently affiliated with Genworth Financial and related companies.
Marybeth Lewis-McLaughlin CPA, Partner     Marybeth graduated from the University of South Florida in 1995 with a B.S. in Accounting and an M.B.A. in 1997. She became a CPA that same year. In January of 1998, she began as a staff CPA for David Higgins, PA. Marybeth has worked extensively with QuickBooks since 1998, and became a Certified QuickBooks Professional Advisor in 2002. She is the partner in charge of our small business division.
Jan Stevens Office Manager   Jan has worked with David since 1997, first as a secretary and receptionist, and now efficiently manages all administrative functions within the firm.  When our clients phone the office, she is generally the person with whom they first speak.  She is an invaluable member of our staff, especially during tax season.
Danielle Palmer Bookkeeper    Danielle has extensive experience in professional office management, including bookkeeping and payroll.  She has specialized in QuickBooks at our office since 2005, handles clients' bookkeeping, and prepares payroll tax returns for our clients.
